TORONTO — Harini Sivalingam, Director of the Equality Program at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, reacted to the passage of Bill 137 that invokes the notwithstanding clause today:

Today is a dark day for the rights and freedoms of everyone in Canada.

The Government of Saskatchewan has shown it does not respect charter rights. Many voices asked it to reconsider and stop its attack on vulnerable students but it refused.

This will be a stain on the history of the province.
