Aujourd\u2019hui plus que jamais, il est important que les individus comprennent leurs droits lorsqu\u2019ils planifient ou participent \u00e0 une manifestation. C'est pourquoi nous invitons le public \u00e0 consulter le rapport de l'ACLC <\/em><\/strong>Connaissez vos droits Guide sur la protestation<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Partout au Canada, il existe actuellement plusieurs campements de protestation \u00e9tudiante sur les campus universitaires. Beaucoup de ces \u00e9tablissements ont engag\u00e9 des discussions avec les \u00e9tudiants, et aucune universit\u00e9 n\u2019a demand\u00e9 une ordonnance judiciaire pour supprimer ces campements. L'Association canadienne des libert\u00e9s civiles exhorte les universit\u00e9s \u00e0 continuer de reconna\u00eetre l'importance de la libert\u00e9 d'expression et de la libert\u00e9 de manifester pacifiquement pour les \u00e9tudiants.<\/p>\n

La libert\u00e9 d\u2019expression est absolument n\u00e9cessaire dans nos sph\u00e8res publiques pour permettre la participation aux d\u00e9bats publics. L\u2019histoire montre que les minorit\u00e9s pers\u00e9cut\u00e9es et les groupes marginalis\u00e9s ont eu besoin d\u2019une libert\u00e9 d\u2019expression pour exprimer leurs pr\u00e9occupations et faire conna\u00eetre leur cause. Soutenir la libert\u00e9 d\u2019expression ne doit pas impliquer un soutien \u2013 ou une critique \u2013 de la cause sous-jacente ou de l\u2019opinion exprim\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

La libert\u00e9 de manifester pacifiquement est \u00e9galement une activit\u00e9 prot\u00e9g\u00e9e dans notre d\u00e9mocratie. Une telle libert\u00e9 est parfois destin\u00e9e \u00e0 provoquer des perturbations afin d\u2019avoir un impact. De solides protections du droit de manifester sont particuli\u00e8rement essentielles dans le contexte des campus universitaires. Les universit\u00e9s sont des lieux o\u00f9 la libre circulation de la parole, des opinions et des d\u00e9bats a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u2013 et devrait continuer d\u2019\u00eatre \u2013 encourag\u00e9e et prot\u00e9g\u00e9e. Les campus sont des espaces communs importants pour l\u2019\u00e9panouissement des d\u00e9bats et des discussions.<\/p>\n

Les manifestations pacifiques ne devraient pas \u00eatre r\u00e9prim\u00e9es dans une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 libre et d\u00e9mocratique. Les manifestants ont le droit de faire conna\u00eetre leur point de vue, \u00e0 moins qu\u2019il n\u2019y ait une menace pour la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 physique des individus, auquel cas les universit\u00e9s doivent prendre des mesures raisonnables et proportionn\u00e9es pour prot\u00e9ger la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des personnes sur leurs campus.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\n\t\t
